My love for fishing started at age 2 when I caught my first chub in a creek behind my house. At age 4 I started tying flies under the tuteledge of Holis Holiday. I taught myself to fly fish at age 6 after asking my father for a fly rod. Until age 10 it was chubs, bluegill, and a snapping turtle for quarry. Then my parents moved to a small inland lake in Michigan. I was in heaven! Bass, bluegill, crappie, perch, pike, and huge carp. I mastered and named them all. At 14 we again moved to an island in lake Erie where I had a few new species to conquer; with musky and walleye being my favorites. Before long, I was guiding my first anglers to limits of walleyes and smallmouth bass on the Detroit river. I did this until 21 when I got a job at Ford motor company as a line worker. At 22 I was promoted to management as a supervisor. I was working 60 hours a week to earn enough to finance 8 boats and 3 salmon trips per week. I would work all night and then drive 4 hours to fish the morning bite for salmon and then drive back to work. After 6 years I was promoted again to lead supervisor, with a salary of 100,000.00+ per year. I was working more and fishing less. I started fishing in pro-walleye tournaments when I had time off with great success. After almost 10 years with Ford motor, I realized how unhappy I was. I decided to leave the factory and security I knew to pursue my dreams. I sold all of my boats except for the skiff and I loaded up my truck and I moved to the keys! Only with great faith in GOD was I able to do this. I was instantly met with great success as a mate and captain. I then moved to Alaska to guide flyfisherman on the Alagnak river. I decided after a season in Alaska that I would be much happier in Islamorada fishing the salt. In the process of moving back I met and fell in love with my beautiful wife Jessica in Canada. We got married and sold her home and moved to Islamorada. When we arrived in the keys we started up KILLER INSTINCT CHARTERS.

Capt. Joe

For 6 years I have enjoyed great success with a 90% repeat ratio and over 200 trips per year. I have been blessed with one daughter, Natalia and a son, Noah. My goal is to be the best servant to my Lord and Savior JESUS CHRIST and to my family. I love to fish in the Gulf of Mexico on wrecks and in the Atlantic ocean. My favorite fish include dolphin, tuna, sailfish, king mackerel, cobia, and snapper. And let's not forget about wahoo, marlin, jacks, grouper, permit, and swordfish too! And I forgot to mention, I also catch alot of huge sharks. In short, whatever you desire, WE CAN DO IT!
